One of the all time greats of the cartoon industry passed away this weekend. Mort Walker, creator of Beetle Bailey and many other comic strips lost his battle with pneumonia at age 94. Obviously one of my idols, I was lucky enough to meet Mort via correspondence and traded several letters back and forth. I drew my versions of Beetle and Sarge but put them in an Iraq type setting. He sent me an original Beetle sketch in return. His sons and his assistants will keep the work going as they have been involved for years.

RIP Me. Walker, you were one of the good guys.
