There I was sitting in front of the TV with my sketch pad, my usual place at night. Sometimes I’ll see or hear something which will spark a cartoon idea. Not sure but I think it was a car commercial with the Soup Nazi in it. So I lumped him into the group of crazy despots and came up with this cartoon. Even though the Soup Nazi is from modern day TV, I thought the “Nazi” reference was better illustrated using WWII soldiers and uniforms. So there’s my method … sit and observe with a sketch pad at the ready!!

The Coasties don’t really have this color scheme for PT clothes. But I would hope if someone did design this type of design for any branch he/she would be exiled to either Thule, Greenland or somewhere else appropriate. And the Army thinks the reflective belts are bad … hah!
