I guess that’s how it would feel if I was ever called back! Of course there’s nothing wrong with being seasoned … experience counts for a lot. The percentage of folks on their 2nd and later tours in Iraq and Afghanistan is pretty high I’m sure compared to previous hostilities. God Bless them all.
I read that there is still a Viet Nam draftee still in the army. He’s a staff sergent or something, serving in Iraq.
Pretty sweet I think.
I think I’ve heard that also, JD … it may have been awhile ago since I read it and yes, he was serving in Irag … very cool! I can’t imagine me still being in at this age in “the sand” … guy deserves a longevity ribbon!!
He was kicking 19 year old soldiers butts. Ha! I’ll have to find that article again.
I arrived overseas while still 19 (1971) but turned 20 4 months later. The thought of still being in uniform now at 58 is unbelievable. More power to him!!!!
I ran into a former draftee (he was a SFC) in my old artillery unit. He was still pretty good at PT and left most of us gasping on Indian runs. He transfered back to his old unit in a hurry though.
Yeah, some of those old timers are in great shape … sorry I’m not one of them!
