You’re dazed … confused … exhausted … the DI is reaming you a new one, ahh … all is right with the world. NOT! Remember when the DI was so close you could feel the warmth of his breath … and hopefully he had been chewing gum.
A once in a lifetime experience … boot camp or basic or whatever. You hated it but still think about it now, so many years later.
Have a great weekend, folks!
Amen, brother! Basic training is a time you’ll never forget, and in truth, is a time that, when looked back upon after all the rough times it took to get you to become a soldier, can be cherished. And amazingly, you never forget the names of your drill sergeants. Hell, you might forget the names of your company C.O.’s in basic because you rarely, if ever, saw them….but your drill sergeants? You never forget them.
I’ve been out of the Army for about 15 years, and I still never forget basic, AIT, and PLDC. Every time I go to the local gun range, and fire off my pistols, I still look back to B.R.M. as my guidelines, and my shots are always true. And every opportunity I get, when I see a brother or sister in uniform, I thank them for their continued service to our country, as I thank you for yours. 🙂
