127. What the Sargeant ReallyMeans …

“What the sargeant really means is …” is a take off of a audio tape back in the day, late 60s – early 70s, of an USAF Colonel being interviewed. The reporter would ask him a question and he’d say something like, “We had so many people on fire after the napalm strike they looked like crispy critters running around.” Then the squadron Public Affairs Officer would interject, “What the Colonel really means is that there were numerous secondary fires.” The tape went on for awhile like that.
