Man, I’d hate to see the arms on the guy that jacked that ship up! When doodling, I was thinking of a ship in drydock and how they got it up. So I kind of stretched that into using car jacks … then I thought of cars up on cement blocks and there you have it. The formula for this cartoon.

Back when I was in the Navy, our CO gave us a little safety brief in which he told us not to resist anybody trying to mug us. That seemed a little unrealistic from a man who used to test planes (and who lost partial use of one of his arms that way). Needless to say, no one on my level actually had any plans to just hand their wallet over.
Every situation needs to be judged individually. If there were a 9mm or .45cal pointed at my head, I’d give the wallet!
Indeed. We get the same safety briefs in the Army, as I’m sure is probably the same in every branch. “Don’t resist. Just give ’em your wallet.”
It’s not like we’re taught kung fu, judo, or anything like that, so if someone’s pointing a firearm at you, why risk it? If they aren’t wearing a mask or balaclava, try to get as much of their detail as you can in your head, and describe ’em later when you call the police.
Not too many robbers are that smart anyways, especially if they’re acting out of “desperation”. If and when they are caught, and they have your wallet among the things they stole, the fact that your military I.D. might (might) still be in there is pretty incrimintating evidence. 🙂
